A new group established for the Velveteen Lop breeders in the Midwest (and others welcome too!) to come together to discuss the Velveteen Lop rabbit during it's struggle for acceptance into the American Rabbit Breeders Association.

Promote and support the breed through owning, breeding and showing. Come discuss your thoughts about raising the breed and thoughts about the acceptance process.

In 2007, the Velveteen Lop Certificate of Developement fell back into possession of Mary Crawford. Not prepared for this, no animals were presented, so an automatic fail was given. In 2008, a nerve wracked Mary presented animals for their first passing attempt, again. If they failed, the breed would have been "put on hold", due to no other person in line holding a COD. Luckily, a pass was given and along with that the comment from the committee that "in all the years of this breed's presentation, these were the best animals ever seen!"
In 2009, the breed attempts going after it's second passing in Louisville, Kentucky. Nine years later from when the first prensantation was made in the same city!

Members of the Midwest States are primarily located in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The MVLBA yahoo group is property of the MVLBA. Topics pretaining to the Velveteen Lop, the buying/selling, breeding, exhibting, promoting, the acceptance/presentataion process, etc are the only topics tolerated on this group. This group is the equilvance to a club "newsletter" that explores the club happenings.

There are other groups for other topics of discussion. Keep on topic and you will not have your messages moderated! ENJOY ALL!!
