Thanks for visiting the Partisans! Our newsgroup is a gathering place for friends who share an interest in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings movies.

Members of our group also participated in creating Stupidring.com (a Tolkien Humor webpage) and the Tolkien Read-along aka TRA which is currently doing "The Tolkien Reader" (going on now, anyone can jump in at any time!) We are affiliated also with The Burping Troll and with Westmarch both homes of great reading.

A few things you may want to know about the group prior to joining:
- We don't have any particular rules about being on topic, which means most of our posts aren't on topic.
- We have a dutiful Calendar Countess who may try and wheedle your birthday out of you should you join, and we have various sporadic bouts of swooning on occasion, as well as passioned discussion about characters from LOTR.
- We enjoy meeting new Tolkien devotees, but spammers are not welcome. When requesting a membership, please also email the group owner at prancing_pony_partisans-owner@yahoogroups.com and tell us a little bit about yourself and why you want to join. (This doesn't have to be elaborate.) Or expect an email from the owner, contacting you before admittance. Please note, that if the owner has not heard from you within 14 days of your application, Yahoo will automatically delete your application for membership.
- Rude people will not be tolerated, so play nice!
